This book is phenomenal. I read it because I am a fan of Martha Wells, not SGA, but I became a fan of SGA because of it. I join the teeming masses of fans absolutely indignant that the series was cancelled and never given a wrap-up movie.

The book is pretty heavily John-POV-centric, which is my favorite thing. Rodney gets some chapters, and there's a lot of great character expansion for Zelenka and also the fan favorite but canon-scarce Miko Kusanagi, the little Japanese woman who appears for like five seconds in Letters From Pegasus and is an embarrassing racial stereotype for four point five of those seconds. (What a waste of a character!) She's frequently a great character in fanfiction, and doesn't disappoint here-- ATA-positive, she gets to pilot the jumper.
It's set earlyish in season 2, so Ronon is still new, and there are a couple great notes from him too, like John reflecting that he has *got* to teach the guy radio protocol. (The punchline is, of course, I don't think a single person on Atlantis had the foggiest notion of radio protocol.)

Wells' writing is always a character-driven feast, and Sheppard was pretty much made for her to steer him. If she had written for the show at all, boy oh boy, I tell you what. He's note-perfect, start to finish.
And it's a great yarn, with complicated ethics and fascinating insights into aliens, a great peek into alternate universes and possible Wraith origin stories, and some minor but decent Shep!whump if that's your thing. (It's mine, so, y'know.)
So buy it and read it if you like good stories, and especially if you like SG:A. But you don't even have to be a fan of the series.

Stargate Atlantis Entanglement SGA6 Stargate Atlantis Martha Wells 9781905586035 Books Reviews

My favorite SG-A fan book so far. She did a great job with the characters, spot on.
Good use of the SGA characters, action, humor, and a very different view of the Wraith. Good team interaction, as well.
Martha Wells seems to have the character's in the Stargate Atlantis series down pat. Obviously she's watched the show. Great story lines in both her SGA books, and if you like the show, these are the ones to get.

Hopefully she'll do more soon...
It's very rare that a tie-in novel is as good as the show is, much less surpasses it, but this definitely does it. Fantastic characterization, a solid, interesting plot that works *with* the characters, and wonderfully written. I cannot recommend this enough to anyone who is a fan of Stargate at all.
And I've yet to read anything she's written that I haven't loved.

Her Entanglement is an excellent tie-in with SGA. Her characterizations, drama and plot are just perfect.

I absolutely recommend her writing!
I loved this book, the character descriptions and personalities were perfect, exactly like the awesome actors from the TV show. It had a great story line, that kept getting better and better, I couldn't put it down, and plan on reading it again and again. If you love the TV show you will love this book!
It shows Martha Wells' growth as an author - this book is much more balanced than her "Reliquary" - and it proves that she's one of the best, if not the best SGA author out there. Her grasp of the characters is amazing and her stories are always about the team working together, being all team-y! I loved the banter between John and Rodney in this book, Teyla's wise assessment, Ronon's protectiveness, Lorne's leadership qualities and Carson's deep care for his friends. Zelenka and Kusanagi were an added bonus. And the story itself was amazing too. The book turned out to be a real page-turner for me. Simply awesome!
