I enjoyed reading the 3rd installment in this series but felt frustrated with the anticlimactic romance between Darien and Vicky. There was so much build in the first two books, and then all that great chemistry seemed to be just an afterthought. I would have liked to see some more romance to balance all the great action in this series.Additionally, the series needs editing. I usually let poor grammar slide on the freebies, but when you're asking me for $5.99, I expect a smooth read.
While I would likely enjoy the next book in the series, taking the above into consideration, I probably won't waste my time, or money.

Kindling Flames Smoke Rising The Ancient Fire Series Julie Wetzel 9781634220439 Books Reviews
There are glaring gaps in the plot, with characters obstinately overlooking the very obvious throughout the whole book (actually, bookS, as it applies to previous instalments too). But the world building is awesome and characters are relatable if a touch under-developed. Will certainly keep on reading the series
This book had me lol a few times. I won't say why because I don't like to give spoilers. This is a great fun read. This series is amazing! I'm loving the world the author is creating. I'm a huge Ann rice, Jeannine Frost, and charlene harris fan (bk 7)
Now, I'm a Julie Wetzel fan. The only thing that I can say is neg. Is that it's YA, so you don't get to find out what happens behind closed doors๐. But thats very minor. You won't be disappointed.
I really liked this story. The author had me laughing, crying and going WHAT? These characters are really good, they keep you guessing about what's going to happen next. The wolf's are great, I'm shaking my head with the Fay...( loving Zak the hellhound) and the rest of the vampires are not bad at all! Would love me some Elliot! Great characters, great story line ...what more could you ask for! I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes hot vampires, a beautiful human, funny wolf's and a very crazy hellhound!!
Let me begin by saying that I obviously like this series—I've read three of them in the past week. But there are a couple of things that bother me. First, the misspellings/wrong word choices. It's brunette, not brunet, for one. Things like that just pull me out of the story.
In this particular book, the other main issue I had was the author's convenient changing of the facts to move the story forward more easily. Without giving too much away, at a crucial point in the plot, Darien first doesn't know who has committed a certain atrocity against him—then, two pages later, magically does—without anything having happened to give him that information.
The author could have omitted that without it hurting the story any. There was another instance a bit later on where Darien similarly has information it is impossible for him to know and that pulled me further out of the story.
These things are annoying, but it's still a good story.
I really enjoyed the first two books in this series, but this one seemed disjointed and lacking. Darien is having strange symptoms but they are constantly dismissed. Vicky is constantly the damsel in distress but everyone adores her. I was confused about how adept she was at magic even though she is overly sensitive to magic. By the end of the book, Darien’s condition is unresolved and some random character was the mastermind trying to undo Darien. It’s hard to relate to the evil character within the story when they were never introduced previously, or they were introduced in passing.
I am really starting to dislike Vicki’s character. She is overly naive and oblivious and somehow that is attractive to a 900 year old vampire. I still don’t understand why the fey queen would want Vicky either.
Just because it is a vampire story should not automatically mean it's painted in broad blue strokes. A PG supernatural story that revolves around what happens when an ordinary human walks into another world which then begins to shape itself to her is such a treat. The relationships and friendships portrayed are warm and understandable. We can see bits and pieces of the best (and not) in ourselves. Weaving empathy, understanding, honor and loyalty throughout the series invests readers in the outcome of their new friends. This is what good storytelling is all about.
Already pre-ordered and looking forward to the fourth book. Thanks Julie for mini-vacation into Flame. Awesome name, btw.
If you have read the first two books and are wondering if you should continue with this third one i can tell you right now don't do it I bought all the books at once and regret it deeply the story barely covered those first two books. In this book the momentum dies a horrible death the whole thing reads like one long filler with action jammed in the end and the conflict in this book is so contrived.the whole thing is terrible the plot the new characters even the writing style it just feels rushed and there are a lot of typos it should have been two start but I gave it three because I liked the first two books
